High Court - LED RGB Feature Lighting
Affinity were engaged to Upgrade the Façade Lighting at the High Court of Australia which is located on Parkes Place Parkes. The High Court is a significant institution in a prominent location. Any lighting enhancements to this building needed to reflect the significance of the institution, the monumental scale and impressive use of materials, as well as its location on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. The building is also a main feature within Canberra's Parliamentary Triangle and plays an important role in maintaining and disseminating Australia's cultural heritage containing its history, uniqueness, its architectural style, aesthetic qualities, creative and technical achievements and social values. This project was to replace the existing external lighting and control for the High Court building facades and the southern forecourt. The project delivered a technically modern lighting solution, which will illuminate and focus attention on the dynamic, powerful structural forms and the creative use of bush-hammered concrete of the High Court building. This project was to also dramatically improve the night-time presence in the nation’s capital of the Heritage Listed building. This Affinity designed and constructed lighting solution was done with technically advanced LED wireless controlled intelligent lighting which enabled us to not only highlight the magnificent architecture of the building, but also doing so whilst understanding the necessity for the High Court to continue as normal during this installation. It was important that this installation was done sustainably, safely, reliably and with the necessary flexibility to achieve appropriate and responsible implementation of the design and highlight the actual nature of this Heritage Building.
