Affinity Electrical Technologies (AET) partnered with Phillip Lighting to provide a lighting design for the Moruya Sharks Rugby League Club’s Ack Weyman Oval. The goal was to achieve a minimum of 100 lux lighting levels across the surface. AET also collaborated with local suppliers for various aspects of the project, including Zenith Tree Services, Eurobodalla cranes, and Boral Moruya suppliers.
Working closely with the Moruya Sharks, AET developed a scope of works that allowed the club to handle certain tasks themselves, such as minor landscaping repairs. The project commenced on October 9, 2024, and the lights were commissioned and handed over on October 25, with a two-week timeline that included a seven-day curing period for the concrete.
AET’s scope of works included supplying a lighting design to meet the minimum 100 lux requirement, procuring all necessary materials, excavating and constructing four footings based on Fairlight consulting engineers’ design, installing four 20m sporting poles in designated positions, assembling the poles with a ratchet system and installing the lights before erection using a mobile crane. Additionally, AET redirected existing conduits and cables into the new footings and installed a Halytech lighting control system as per Eurobodalla Shire Council’s request. Lux measurements were also conducted at night to ensure compliance with the lighting design.
With the collaboration of Eurobodalla Shire Council, Moruya Sharks Rugby Club, and all other stakeholders, AET considers this project a successful endeavor for everyone involved.
